After winning “Best Feature” at the Toronto Independent Festival, the"Audience Award" and "Best Actor” award at the Vermont International Film Festival this fall, She Sings to the Stars is back! Produced by Circeo Films of Monkton, VT, the film has also been selected by the Montreal World Film Festival, Red Nation Film Festival (Los Angeles), Blow-up Arthouse Film Festival (Chicago), the Queens World Film Festival (New York) and by the Albuquerque Film and Music Experience (Albuquerque, NM).
Producer Jonnie Corcoran, known locally as the Executive Director of ACORN (Addison County Relocalization Network) in Middlebury adds: "We will be holding three preview screenings in Middlebury at the Marquis Theater to finally share the film with local audiences. These screenings will coincide with the launch of our crowdfunding campaign on Seed and Spark to raise money to get this beautiful film out into the world. My sister, the writer-director, and I will do a Q&A after each screening and have organized a 'Meet the Filmmakers' event at 6 PM on Thursday, March 24 to meet people who want to learn more about the film."
"A break-through film that blazes a new trail into the forests of consciousness" - John Perkins, Founder of Dream Change and Pachamama Alliance
A story that values soulfulness, foregrounds simplicity, quiet and stillness, it offers a glimpse into an unknown America: without water, a Native American grandmother continues to inhabit the desert. Her half-Mexican grandson rushes to 'make it big'. A down-on-his-luck magician from LA finds himself lost at her doorstep. The film raises enduring questions, yet touches on the zeitgeist when it comes to the current ecological crises of the planet and the human spirit, asking: What exactly is 'reality'? What is 'magic'? And who are the real magicians?
Tom Verner of Magicians Without Borders, says, "What a gorgeous telling of the old story of death and rebirth, of the need to be connected to the real magic once again if we are to bring the world back to life. This film is still and deep as the night sky. How the dry soul of our world needs the water of films like this."
Described as "a film to be experienced," it takes time so viewers have to make the decision to be a part of it. Observes actor Sam Waterston: "It's not an ordinary look at the world, you will find the images and the vision coming back to mind long after you've finished watching. Watch on the biggest screen you can get at: in this movie, the size of the night sky matters.”
